A walk on the sands of savannah
It is time to think of people's heart
Without melancholy mark you for assault
Of those long dark days and nights
Where people shut their doors tight
And often friends can't come to call.
And you begin to count days
And start to wish your life away
The very thing you shouldn't do.
I imagined that I lived in the North
For quite an age with friends in peace
When I put on Kaftan
Walking under the blows of the wind
Along the sand swept savannahs of the North
And the skies display nature's craftsmanship
Which would always give me some joy.
I lament I couldn't posture in the North
And it seems to me, the world at large
Believes we are completely involved
With the lurid actions of savagery.
In this land we live in constant dread
That we don't have concerns for life
I hear the troubles of the day and wonder
As if we don't have the humanity in us .
