A Soldiers Winter

a soldier longs for a woman he left behind
a woman he loves cause shell never leave his side
she waits for her soldier boy
so they can share in all the joy
no snow will fall
no presents will call
he spends his winter lying still
he knows the enemy is in the clear
he sometimes feels the fear
but home will soon be near
he spends his winter far from home
and thinks of his wife who sleeps alone
but he has to take a pause
to remember he fights for a greater cause
so when your heart is filled with cheer
remember his job is clear
he protects our nation
no matter the destination
