A Soldier

Somewhere in a desert, that I have never been.
A soldier fights a war, that he may never win.

Somewhere in a town, that I will never see.
A soldier dreams of home, and long lost family.

Somewhere in a country, that I will never know.
A soldier walks with friends, a soldier walks alone.

Somewhere in a jungle, beneath the canopy.
A soldier sees a fallen friend, die in agony.

Somewhere in a desert, beyond the blinding sands.
A soldier lies there broken, and no one understands.

Somewhere in a town, that doesn't have a name.
A soldier is a target, a soldier takes his aim.

Somewhere in a country, that should never have been born.
A soldier learns to cry, a soldier learns to mourn.

Somewhere in a jungle, deep amongst the trees.
A soldier fights for freedom, a soldier fights for me.
