Answer to Me

This is a bit of a personal poem - you'll see it when you read it. As always, criticism welcome.

Answer to me:

Society will look at my sister and see
A loud kid, a wild kid, an anomaly
She’s different so she’s wrong, cause she doesn't
Understand or speak
Havoc is all she can ever wreak
No-one knows the love that I, for one, can see
Plain on her face, so get off her case
‘Cause she’s just like you and me

Just like you and me,
But that’s not what they’ll see
She screams and shouts and sometimes she screeches
She has been known to throw sand at beaches
Is she less deserving of kindness?
No, she is not, but that's what some
Will think of her, and if they do
They’ll have me to answer to

They’ll answer to me, and I’ll make them see.

She goes to a different school
She’ll live by different rules
Doesn’t make her any less cool
If you don’t think so then you’re the fool

So, I guess,
It’s not your fault if you’re not truly educated
But being ignorant is well overrated
In my head, I’ve already calculated
Wheremost your societal ignorance is located
I would shut up but now you have me aggravated
Your ableist beliefs have had me infuriated
This subject isn’t really that complicated
Kind, moral values you’ve already desecrated
‘Cause everyone should be treated the same, alright?
A poem to explain this, I should not have to write.
But write it I will, and now hopefully you’ll see
You don’t want to have to answer to me.

So next time don't stare, don't look, and don't whisper;
'Cause, you'll answer to me;
And I'm her big sister
