A Year MASKED

A YEAR MASKED
The coming of locusts
Heralded at painful costs
Long ago fortold
The gory tale to be told

Little we had notion
Of the consequence like ocean
That would put the world on knees
Even at the drop of its sneeze

It was indeed a year masked !
Needless to be asked
Of torture,of pains inflicted
Living nothing but sorrow afflicted

It was indeed a year masked !
Needless to be asked
Of countless perishable soul
And the siege on our centre of sole

The reality of agonising lockdown
As the pandemic rage touchdown
With its untold debilitating effects
Make lives become  total defects

A year we staged a Masque
To tell our story wholly
When constrained to wear a mask
To clasp and dance in melancholy

A year of Elephants
Where war waged
Against gods - oh ! we raged
Sparing not even infants

A year the world got sick
Yet couldnt find cure we seek
A year of misery and death
Reducing mankind in great dearth

May such year Never recall anymore  !
