Your Journey

They say you never forget the ‘big’ things,
But I do not remember my first steps, or my first kiss,
I do know,
I will never forget you, my friend.

Demons are portrayed to be mythical creatures,
Yet they are the ones that took you from me,

I do not remember the rope that gave me life,
But I know,
I will never forget the rope that took yours.

I don’t care if the poem isn’t relatable,
This is just for me,
A way to shed a tear without having to wipe my eyes,
You See, sorrow is weakness for a man, and I must be strong.

Strong to help carry the weight that has been left by your absence,
A darkness, a man drowned by impure thoughts,
When there is no lighthouse to guide me,
Until I join you,

Wait for me, up there,
In a place where happiness isn’t just a word,
And peace truly exists,

Until then,
You will be remembered,
And your journey is not finished yet, my friend,
For I will carry you with me;
