Louis Pasteur and Dextrotartaric Acid, 1848
Louis Pasteur and Dextrotartaric Acid, 1848
By Xiaoyuan Yin
On a grayish slide under the microscope, tiny human figures
Evolve into kaleidoscopic anaerobes. Make sure chubby silkworms and ferocious hounds
Are in their places, since your being in love with cerevisiaes’ tribe
Has hit the headlines. When wars and misfortunes swept out everything on flights of
World’s stairs, how could you trust milk and water
So fickle and suspicious? Benevolent eyes through the dust and smoke sought for scavengers
To clear rotten leaves from veins of people, at the cost of
Heat and time. Maybe he just overdid it, Otherwise, why with their last breath
They praised the land and flocks over her? ‘Stonehenge is a symbol of
Constant state.’ Tartaric acid crystals, blossomed into patina green
In Val de Loire. Across the fingers of the Creator
L-tartaric Acid and D-tartaric Acid, swirling, like oil of science poured on the flame
Of nature. Daylight is restored, as if
Never been stolen. It can be heard, the gurgle of little souls
Within bodies of fowls – they no longer swarm into Eden
To be its bowerbirds.
