Diagnose

I think I'd feel better
If I never told anyone
If I self-diagnosed
What I've been creating inside
Where I am burning up
Dissipating feels like warming up
Until you're too sharp to touch
And you toss and turn because you can't sleep
Thinking about everyone and everything
Pretending that you can fake it
Pretending you know how to be real
But who needs real, after all
Who wants to hold a broken man's hand
And help him recover what ails him
Who wants to answer his questions
They're given for a reason
And you keep screaming them
But you hope to forget that you are you
You hope to forget you exist
It's easier that way, on the front lines
Pretending to be fine and all right
Take the smiling pills and they'll never know
That's okay
Because they never cared in the first place
