Subdue your enemies

I’m standing with my enemies, they have me surrounded.
BUT! In that circle I am preparing myself to go to battle.
In the space between us I have room to move,
My enemy sees the weapons in my arsenal, my short sword for up close fighting, my five foot spear for far away targets, my brass knuckles to deliver a beating to the face and body.
Self delusion takes a flurry of punches to its ribs and throat with the brass knuckles stopping its ability to ask for mercy.
Self pity is done in with cuts to its armpits so it cannot hold its hands to its mouth, crying poor me.
These are examples of man’s true enemies, and it’s my will to capture each one and put them in their place.

About this poem

I wrote this as a definitive line drawn in the sand as it describes the true enemies that we all face. Self delusion, weakness, fear of life, self pity, etc etc etc.
