Walls of Ice

Life shows us how to open our eyes to see
Our hearts are joined so let it be
The mistakes we made are in our past
They can build walls of ice ever so fast
Ever so high these walls we build
They block the love light upon our field
The beauty of the field rests within us all
If we can remove these ice walls so tall

Love of life is our magic ingredient
Feel its strength and power to be obedient
For love knows that mistakes will be
That growing part of us, we do see
Love knows the meaning to forgive
For that is how we learn to live
These walls of ice have no place
When we grow in our most sacred space

About this poem

The poem was written a week before my dischatge from the Navy. Growing past the scars of yesterday, the scars are the mistakes we've made and how we hide from others, especially ourselves; we must first love God (whatever your higher power would be), then ourselves and others
