Day ofthe Lord
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
All these things are to be dissolved,
What sort of people ought you be;
Holy and godly lives evolved,
But without the foresight to see.
Waiting to hasten for that day,
When the earth is set on fire;
The fervent heat will melt away,
Of your every past desire.
The promised new Heaven and earth,
That the moral righteous will dwell;
Peace and tranquility give birth,
Satan will be locked up in hell.
You will be looking for these things,
Be diligent till they are found;
Without blemish or spot that brings,
A peace with God that will be sound.
Count the patience of the Lord,
As wisdom will bring salvation;
By remaining in one accord,
And building a new foundation.
