X MARKS THE SPOT

X MARKS THE SPOT

We watched today on our TV screens
As you darkened the sun across the Land
Pundits and preachers tell us what it means
As You marked us all with Your hand
As they told us what they thought
You said, “X marks the spot”

I heard the world cry and cheer
Celebrate as the darkness fell
Wine and booze, no pause or fear
And in one voice they lift a Rebel’s yell
As the darkness fell another shot
You said, “ X marks the spot”

America have you no fear of God?
Party on as He signs his name
As His Hand crosses our land so broad
You fall down drunk in your wild game
I fall in prayer for the Land I fought
And God replies, “X marks the spot”

And so it does, as darkness lifts again
Reveals a land that evil has Torn
Oh my neighbors, brothers, my friend
Now is the day for you to be reborn
For tomorrow is nearer than you thought
And our God says, “ X marks the spot

Cario, Ninavah, Egypt all lie in the Path
And my people cheer for their destruction
Tremble now for judgements coming wrath
For this people reject sound instruction
Was it a sign you searched and sought
Your God answers,”X marks the spot “
Amen

About this poem

A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” Jesus then left them and went away. Matthew 16:4
