My Cat my friend!

Sitting on my steps it was just another day!
 Anger disappointment heartache and pain!
Except, today turned out to become different!
 Looking to my left I saw eyes looking back!
Woe, then I saw her a black and white cat!
 Maybe, she's hungry I thought, to myself!
I was used to that from the dog!
 She would growl as I pushed her bowl to her!
Girl here!
 Then, to my surprise, she walked, right up!
Rubbing against my leg I, heard purr, after purr!
 Her coat was thick and warm to my palm!
Oh, me, oh, my!
 Now she's more my type of girl!
Later that evening, after dinner was done, I came out for a smoke!
 Again there she was!
I had brought milk and left over chicken!
 She gobbled it right down!
As if, she knew I liked her too, and, life, was our witness!
 Shortly, after, she, hopped in my lap!
Rubbing her fur we both sat and just sat!
 Finally, freedom from the stress of our days!
No words were spoken, life truly, will, amaze!
 For, years and years every day after school, I'd rush home to my cat!
To relax!
 True love, with no rules!
Despite, the odds, I, face, now a days, when I think, of my cat, again, I'm at peace!
 In the midst of the darkness life gave me a light!
My best friend is my cat!
 To all others I still say good night!
