Fading Light

My light dims as the days go by,
Once believed in forever, but it was a lie.
I don't want to die, not yet, not now,
So I stay high, seeking solace somehow.

Oh, how I wish that I could fly,
Escape this earthly pain, touch the sky.
Take my anguish, twist it into rain,
Let it fall, cleanse my soul, ease the strain.

Yet it's driving me insane, this battle within,
The shadows dance, whispering of sin.
Lights call me home, a distant beacon,
But I fear turning to stone, my heart weakening.

Fear, the real mind breaker, holds sway,
Yet hope lingers, urging me to find my way.
In this twilight struggle, I seek release,
To soar beyond pain, find inner peace.

And so, I'll keep chasing the fading light,
Yearning for flight, through day and night.
For even broken wings can mend and heal,
And perhaps, one day, my spirit will feel."
