The second god

The second god

We are living in a society
Where the scales of justice
Don't determine the course of humanity
And the voices of oppressed
Are subject to money and influence
Leaving behind those who advocate
And struggle to be heard

We see it in the courts
Where the poor are marginalized
And meted out with sentences, harsh
And their pleas go unheard
While the wealthy and powerful
Are given plea bargains

We see it in the media
Where truth is hidden
And propaganda manipulated for profit
Whilst the stories of the day
Are buried under archives

We see it in our government
Where our saintly robed officials
Hold and stay in power
To serve their own interests
Instead of the people they represent

We see it in our schools
There are private, state and federal
Children from poor social backgrounds
Are given unbalanced possibilities
In a cycle , perpetuated by a dishonest system

We see it in our world
Where wars are fought
In favour of the elites
Innocent lives are displaced
And voices of the casualties subdued
For the sake of wealth, power and control

Equal rights and justice,
are antecedents of peace
And demand to be adhered to
We must unite to speak out
For those who are the castes
It's only then,
we can build a new world
Where justice is blind,
And all are truly equal
