AT FIRST BITE

Rhonda Varsane 1955 (Dallas, TX)

The ripe peach wrapped in its velour jacket can be inhaled as delectable and detected long before you see the blending of orange, red, yellow, and crimson. Viewing this color of round, you reach and find a fine line that leads from one end, running as if a canal, to the top, where a valley awaits. Venturing inside you find it is firm but giving. The taste and smell explode as the juices flow at first bite. The intensity of taste, married with the meeting of all senses, ingrain this experience deep in your memory. Heading slowly toward the center, where truly it is the pit, you are now at the end of the first part of the journey, leaving you with what is the start of what, if nutured, will begin the process again. One of life. Having clear realization, now knowing, with seed in hand, this cycle is now complete, but, just the beginning of the next.
