Heartbreak

C. R. Huddleston 2001 (McKenzie, Tennessee)

Being heartbroken is a terrible emotion.
It is unlike any other one,
Because it requires a large buildup.
But with every big thing,
It comes crashing down hard.
It can leave you feeling drained,
Depressed, devoid of any other emotion,
Or maybe even just apathy.
Heartbreak is worse than anything else,
Because it takes the one you liked most, and destroys them for you.
Your highest hopes of love,
Just a burning heap of rubble.
Nothing left except your tears,
And the ashes of what could have been.
