Head Guests
Thoughts are like house guests.
Some good; some bad.
Some they leave and close the door,
While others leave the door standing wide open.
Some remember to wipe their feet before entering;
Others track in dirt and grime with them.
The good ones bring a cheery nature
While the bad ones bring an attitude.
Have pets?
Leave the door open and they’re gone;
Free to wander outside.
Coax them home or call and hope they return.
Open doors let the breeze in.
Bringing with it fresh air to dispel the stale.
Uncovering dust from all corners
And swirling them in true tornado fashion.
Many like to touch the windows
Leaving fingerprints behind them.
Others merely stare out on occasion
Knowing they aren't leaving any time soon.
Lots of them sit and mingle with the others,
Holding conversations with them just
Laughing and having a marvelous time
Behind either a veil or an aire of authenticity
Dust bunnies are not the pets I keep.
Cute pets welcome; but trouble makers?
I don’t foster them, at least for long,
For they are far more trouble than they're worth
