A game: Love

Aarna Narain 2007 (Bareilly)

I wanted to wake up
I couldn't let you leave
I never imagined my heart,
Shattering like glass
On my birthday eve

They used to tell stories,
I regret not believing now,
Love's a game afterall
i realised, oh wow!

You stabbed me right
Where i told you it'd bleed
You said i'd be happy without you
When you were my only need

Was it supposed to end like this?
The late night calls,
The forehead kiss

For once i beg god,
To return you back to me
But, maybe
It's not too late
For i was just an anchor,
Drowning in your sea.

About this poem

Each one of us, as humans, have had break ups. Which either led to a suicidal attempt for some or a masterpiece. This poem is a mix of emotions one feels when their heart breaks for the first time. A poem which describes them in lines, to some extent.
