Why is it odd to talk about God

Why is it odd
To talk about God?
Yet people insist
To sit at their desk
In front of them stands
A statue of a fat man
To look at all day
But that’s not the way

That’s why Jesus came
So man will proclaim
A savior to help them
To  be born again
Begotten Son of God
Got to be me that has to trod
All the way down to hell
To overcome the devil
So that man can be well

God made the choice
All the angels rejoiced
Jesus did not sin
And man is forgiven
No fat man can do that
Sitting is how he got fat

I so want to say
Jesus is the Way
By others I am told
Not to be so bold
To keep God to myself
But He doesn’t sit on a shelf
Hearing about God might help
they talk about everything else
Why is it odd
To talk about God?

About this poem

When I go to the office where I work I see the staff members each have their desk decorated with trinkets. Some have healing stones I call them rocks and some have little buddhas sitting in their desk. But if I mention it and began to talk about God, I’m told to keep that to myself. So I stop and wonder why when they can talk about everything else.
