The Omnipotent God
Brian Z. Jackson 2006 (NJ)
In the deep woods walks a boy of seven
Afraid and alone he looks up to heaven
He pleas to be saved from this midnight scare
God hears him and ignores as He does not care
In the castle in the north lives a wicked cruel king
All he adores is his gold, chalices, mirrors, ring
His wealth abundant but his insatiable greed greater
Extra riches he receives from none other than his creator
Down in the sweltering desert, the oasis begins to dry
“There is no water for the children” the mothers cry
They turn towards their savior and beg him for rain
However, from bringing rain, he still does refrain
The hut in the swamp dwells a wicked wart-covered witch
All she longs for is her appearance ugly to switch
She asks of the God she doesn't believe in
But he makes her stunning, beautiful, and thin
For this creator we say is infallible and good
He seems to make mistakes right out of the blue
With all of his doings are we really so sure
That He’s not the devil but omnipotent and pure
About this poem
Yay, I wrote a poem for fun for once. I ended up having some of my opinions of God as I often struggle with him, but, I tried to make it as much a poem just written for fun as possible. It ended up being a poem about how God always appears to be helping those who don't deserve it and leaving those who deserve help out to bleed. It is about the struggle of seeing god as omnipotent and good, even when his actions seem so confounding at times.
