Affirmation poem

Let the land be white.
Let the ocean be black.
Let every vibration inside me find its rhythm.
and ebb and flow, ebb and flow toward this world.
I have a story I have never told:
Once, when I was an infant,
I looked up at the sky and saw the sun
and knew I was a grain of rice made of earth.
I am still a nothing, made of earth.

About this poem

Written during hiatus from domestic violence, expoitation and conflict. I caught my boyfriend eyeing my teenage daughter and punched him in the face, kicked him out of the house and called the police. He was handcuffed, arrested and sent to jail. Imprisoning infidels is no easy task.
