A Hungry Squirrel and a Ripen Apple

Dips Lawati 1974 (Chengmari)

A Hungry Squirrel And A Ripened Apple

In front of varandah
                                  With a gushing sound,
Quickly awoke me up.
                                      A hungry squirrel lurking
On top of my attic rooftop
                                        Made me attention.
Before a run on my stick
                                                 Vanished it.
Alas! Where’s the falling apple?
                                          Gone with the greedy Monster!

About this poem

This poem might give a kind of humorous feeling yet looking/reading deeply, it does have other negative feelings. The poet visualizes both the man n the squirrel (animals) are selfish by nature. Having brought in a rural family he Kens how other animals disturbed his farms esp by monkeys… there is no any rhyming scheme here. It’s like cumming’s one.
