the affair

Spring has come
Early
To my bones
Snowdrops thrust upwards
To the light
And there is light
Sun shines like honey
Drips
A bright glimmer
A streaked winter sky
I did not know it had been dark
I did not know I had missed the shoots
And growth
And softness
I loved the tangles of last year
The structure of the bare bones
The reminder that something vibrant had stood
Where i stand.
I feel like i am waking
Daffodil finger tips reach to me
From frozen ground
there is joy held down there
I cannot hold it
yet
but
It calls for me
Promising light and warmth
And colour.
