STORY -TELLER

THE STORY-TELLER
--------------------------------
I've been asked many times
Where do I get my inspiration
Do I find it easy to write
How difficult is it to rhyme

I have been called a poet
And I view this as a compliment
But I don't write poetry per se
My writing tells a story
I just tell it in a different way

That would explain the length of my poems
I have to include every detail
If I were to leave anything out
My stories would derail

You have to walk in the shoes of the reader
And read exactly as they do
What kind of story teller would I be
If I shirked this responsibility

I wish I'd started earlier
But writing takes persistence
I don't think it would be so easy
Without having life experience

I will happily accept the label of poet
Because poets have the talent of rhyme
But I'd rather be known as a storyteller
Who tells her stories sublime

About this poem

Description of my poetry writing. I would prefer to be known as a storyteller who tells her story in a different way.

TEAH KAYNE

Just starting out. I have written approx 500 poems in 2/3 years. It's like an addiction. I find writing poetry somewhat cathartic ft more…
