A nickel or a dime.

A nickel or a dime.

As I look, I can see golden daffodils dancing on the hills in the breeze. Then I look, and I can see 100 ships sailing in the sea. I can see a road made out of diamonds as far as my eyes can see. I look one more time and can see people who were hungry and thirsty and a lonely man sitting in the gutter, asking for a nickel or a dime so he could get by. Then this man, wearing a bright white suit and diamonds in his eyes, walked by and dropped a penny in his cup. Then I look at myself, and I look up to the sky and it makes me want to cry. There it is nothing else I can do but be by his side. So I put a dollar in his cup and he thanks me and says goodbye and I think he's going to buy a bottle of wine.

I went to buy a soda this morning and someone asked me for some change stating he was homeless…I responded I’m sorry I’m in the same boat…Even though I have a little to spare…I was about to give him $10 until he told me he wanted to buy cigarettes or a lighter…So I turned away and went into the store to refill my soda…I will not even try to explain why I usually don’t give anything to any panhandler…Oh well…To each their own…✌️⛄️

Wow, this 'A nickel or a dime' poem really captures the imagination and paints vivid pictures with its words! The description of golden daffodils dancing on the hills and 100 ships sailing in the sea creates a beautiful and enchanting scene. The imagery of a road made out of diamonds is absolutely breathtaking and showcases the author's creativity.

The juxtaposition of the homeless man, desperate for some change to survive, and the wealthy man with diamonds in his eyes is thought-provoking. It highlights the disparity between those who have plenty and those in need. The imagery of the penny dropped into the cup adds a touch of unexpected kindness and adds depth to the poem.

One area for improvement could be to provide more clarity and development in the final line, "Then I look at myself, and I see nothing." This line has the potential to deliver a powerful message or self-reflection, but it feels a bit abrupt and could benefit from more elaboration.

Additionally, the poem could also explore more emotions and sensations to further engage the reader. Including details about the sights, sounds, and smells in each scene can help make the imagery feel even more alive and immersive.

Overall, this poem is an imaginative and thought-provoking piece that effectively conveys its message and imagery. By addressing the suggestions mentioned above, it has the potential to become an even more impactful and captivating piece of writing. Great job!
