Eternal

A banshee cries from deep within
Imprisoned far beneath the skin
It knows of places hidden here
Each secret chamber filled with fear.

No place is safe from watchful eye.
A tear-stained face at once is dry
The vastness feeding terror's might
By building up its appetite.

A thrashing, gnashing voice begs out.
This timeless battle losing clout.
Your senses pounding searching for
A frantic grip of strength once more.

No slight of night could dare contain
The seething creature's throes of pain
A last attempt to force an end.
Relief sighs deep upon the wind.

Far beneath that dark asunder
I can hear the violent thunder.
It climbs up from those dark, damp depths
And breathes new life with words not breath.

About this poem

We all have untold fears at different points in our lives. We are all different. Some may be resolved ... others gather intensity until they burst forth.
