The Poem of Judah
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
On that day this song will be sung,
God sets salvation a strong wall;
Though the foeman weapons are flung,
The bulwark stands and will not fall.
Open the gate for the righteous,
Those with the faith can enter in;
Because of their moral conscience,
Their hearts and minds are free of sin.
You keep Him in a perfect peace,
Whose mind has remained upon you;
His trust in you will never cease,
Because you are remaining true.
So trust in the Lord forever,
The Lord is an eternal rock;
That is just that will not sever,
Following wherever you walk.
He humbles the inhabitants,
The lofty city of the height;
Safely shelters the residents,
From the enemy that will fight.
He lays it low unto the ground,
The foot tramples, casting to dust;
The poor and needy make no sound,
As the foe’s swords are turned to rust.
