A Pivoted Heart

A Pivoted Heart

Prompt: A Mother's Preparations May Lead To Accusations!

Elenore Saga Part: 8

The spring day brings out energy
As I sweep the dusty floor
I'm cleaning for the baby to be
That's swiftly growing in my core

I finished all the sweeping
Then I get ready to mop
Charles is still sleeping
The excitement makes me pop

I can't believe I'm having our baby
A true miracle at last
I think to myself that maybe
That time is moving so fast

I rearranged some of the house
And admire my hard work
I'm as quiet as a mouse
I don't want my husband's ears to perk

I start dusting to get rid of some of the gloom
The air is smelling brighter
As I finish up the room
I start to feel lighter

Clumsy me knocked over an old box
That sits on top of the fireplace
My stomach locks
As I pick it up with grace

My poor heart pivots
As my eyes find the proof
In front of the fire it sits
Like an ugly truth

My eyes brim with tears
As I read the ugly words
All of these years
Fly away like a flock of birds

I musn't act hasty just yet
Until I know the facts
There's an explanation I bet
Of these heinous acts

My teeth I start to grit
Oh, please Charles, tell me this ain't so
I will give you every benefit
That only time will know

My heart forever belongs to you
I thought your's was the same
This cannot be true
As a true lover's flame
