Wish you could have stayed.

Jacklyn Vandever 1992 (South Lake Tahoe)

Sometimes I wake up, wondering where you are. Do you still love me? Did I do something wrong? Plans were made, but never put into action, and I felt like I was the only one trying to make things happen. You promised to visit, but always broke that promise. Where is she? Am I not worthy of her love? Hugs? Kisses? Am I worthy of her at all?  What do I need to do to make you love me? I am screaming, and crying and nothing is happening. Do I need to fake happiness to keep the peace or make others uncomfortable because my emotions are too intense in their eyes? Perhaps someday I'll figure out what to do, and where to go from here, but for now I'll wear your clothing, craft with your supplies, sings the songs you loved, and tell you I love you every day.

About this poem

I lost my mom to cancer. During my childhood, my mom struggled with alcohol addiction and mental health issues, including depression, I didn't have her much in my life, but I knew she loved me every day.
