Bored Time

Maybe I'm not poetry in motion
I write poetry to fill mind gaps when in stagnation
I hate my mind being in this almost empty void
It makes me feel quite annoyed
I could fill time gaps with household chores
That will earn me some wifely scores
I like my brain working to tire it out
I'll sleep better at night when I've messed about
I have a mate who naps to fill these gaps
I can't appreciate these memory lapses
It's a waste of valuable day-time hours
And not sure if it renews my energy powers.
I know I'll sleep better at night after meeting peers
and socialising earlier over some beers.

About this poem

I have a mate who does some day-time napping, frequently. After discussing this, I thought to myself why don't I do this, This poem was my answer.

Dave Johnstone

I am a semi-retired software developer and web-site designer, my verse compositions have been an enjoyable change of pace (no deadlines to face). My poetry verses are my poetic expressions of my observations of nature , and their poetic content convey my humour and empathy with my surroundings, from the sea, to the earth, to the cosmos, and all life-forms therein (including those in other worlds). I actually believe that writing a software program and writing a poem take on the same mental structure, I use the same methodology for each. Get an idea or be provided a specification, plan out the task, write the task, test (rewrite) the task until satisfied with the end result. more…
