D.E.P.R.E.S.S.I.O.N (Press On)

Depression is being in DENIAL that it exists
No matter how hard it grabs you by the wrist
Depression is being on an EMOTIONAL roller coaster
Holding you hostage like a gun loaded in its holster
Depression is PUBLICLY smiling and PRIVATELY crying
PRERETENDING you're happy when on the inside you are dying
Depression is REALIZING that this thing is bigger than you
You will need the help of God and maybe a counselor to help you pull through
Depression is EXPECTING those around you to help you stay a float
Only to realize that only God can help you steady the boat
Depression is SUFFERING in SILENCE
Blindly in search of some type of guidance
Depression is admitting that you've been barely SURVIVING
Despite the outside world who sees you as happy and thriving
Depression is being chemically IMBALANCED
but finding a way to keep standing tall no matter the challenge
Depression is realizing that it's OK to not be ok
Giving yourself permission to take it day by day
Depression is knowing that no matter what you can NEVER lose hope
Because your faith in God will teach you to more than just cope
Erasing the pain that was deafening and numbing
Changing the tune in your heart from chaotic to one that's calming
And healing you in ways your eyes never saw coming
