The life of a hoe

Boikobo 1997 (Maun)

The life of a hoe...
I planted a seed/
That birthed fruit so ends could meet/
My user grips my body tight/
Sweat glistening/
He motions me back and forth from his head to feet/

What am I?/
I am a hoe meant to work in this summer heat/
With every stroke my back could break/
With grip of hands I ride a wave/
He wears a glove but his soul is not tamed/
The life of a hoe brings joy and pain/
U can't escape that pictures frame/

I am a hoe and I know my ways/
I lay to rest in a shady place/
From one man's hands to another I move/
Different strokes and different grooves/
Though passed through many hands I know my home/
Only my man will pay the fee if I'm ever broke.
