A Letter To Heaven

Norma Peterson 1968 (Summerville)

Dear Mommy and Daddy,
from your child below,
why did you leave me?
and where did you go?

I went to your funeral,
but couldn't understand,
why people were crying,
and holding each other's hand.

I saw you both laying,
in this strange looking bed,
Aunt Ruby looked down at me,
and softly she said.

"You're parents are gone
to live with GOD above,
He's a kind of wonderful
and will shower them with love."

I went through life
thinking GOD had done this,
what did he do with my parents
That I had loved and missed.

I'm a grown woman now
and I understand a lot
I'll always remember you
and cherish the memories I've got.

So Mommy and Daddy
when you get this letter
I hope you're okay
and doing a lot better.

Always remember
I love you both the same
From the daughter of both of you
from whence she came.
