your courtyard

i sat in your courtyard until evening
my hands were shivering in my lap
i found it odd that you weren't
with me

did you miss me
like I missed you

it was cold outside, and all i could think about
was you

the birds were flying south
but i’ve been patiently waiting
in the south

for you

when you came home only a few hours later
i found myself laughing,
how odd were my thoughts

did you miss me
like I missed you

About this poem

missing your lover is something far more than words alone, sitting in the lonely courtyard waiting for more.
