fading

Britt Strikers 2008 (Netherlands)

I don't wear my heart on my sleeve, I wear my story on my body.
They're there to accept my grieve.
The scars that reside on my thighs and arms, every time I look at them it harms.
they remind me of the bridges I've crossed, while they're fading I've felt lost.
The only thing that's left of those scars is the lighter i now use for cigars.
It's all gone all my art fading away.
When I was 10 I was waiting for this day.
Why is it so hard to say farewell.
When I think of this moment my eyes constantly start to swell.
The depression the anxiety and everything I've been threw, but everyday my love for those scars grew.
They're my battle scars they're all I have to cope, now all I have is this tiny bit of hope.

About this poem

this poem is about a struggle I've been dealing with these last couple of months, and finally was able to find the words that will release these thoughts. This poem is about a part of self harm, that I find the hardest to cope with the after math.
