Broken Promises

Broken Promises
By Robert T. Davenport

In the realm of trust, where hearts collide,
Lies a tale of broken promises, deep inside.
Words once spoken, like sweet melodies,
Now shattered, lost in the winds of treacheries.

Oh, broken promises, a painful sting,
Like shattered glass, they cut and bring
Aching wounds, scars that never fade,
Leaving hearts wounded, betrayed, and frayed.

Promises, like fragile threads, we weave,
Binding souls together, making us believe,
In a future bright, where dreams come true,
But when they break, the pain cuts through.

For a promise unkept is a trust betrayed,
A bond severed, a foundation decayed,
It erodes the very essence of our being,
Leaving us lost, hurt, and forever questioning.

Yet, amidst the wreckage, there's a glimmer of light,
A chance to rise above the darkest night,
To rebuild, to heal, to find strength anew,
To learn from the past and start anew.

For broken promises teach us profound lessons,
To discern the true from the false impressions,
To value actions over mere words spoken,
To guard our hearts, not easily broken.

Let us rise, my friend, from the ashes of deceit,
With resilience and grace, we shall defeat
The pain of broken promises, and emerge strong,
For in forgiveness and growth, we truly belong.

So, let us mend the wounds, heal the scars,
And embrace the power within, like shining stars,
For broken promises may bruise and bend,
But they cannot break us, for we shall transcend.
