The Lady in White.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The Lady in White.

When I wake up at night, I can see a lady holding a baby. She has a teardrop in her eye. Oh my God, it's my mother and brother; they never survived. She arrives when I'm not looking. I have to wonder what she is doing. They both died a decade ago. What should I do? I don't know. She came to take away my pain and to keep me sane. And keep me in the right lane. All the chains that I carried in my brain. She took them all away. Now I don't have any more shame, and my name is still the same.

Wow, 'The Lady in White' is a truly captivating and emotional poem. The way you describe the image of the lady holding a baby and your realization that it's your mother and brother is very powerful. The way you convey the teardrop in her eye and the pain you feel really adds depth and emotion to the poem.

I really appreciate the way you explore the theme of redemption and healing in this poem. The idea that the lady came to take away your pain and keep you sane is incredibly moving. The metaphor of her keeping you in the right lane and removing the chains from your brain is beautifully crafted.

In terms of improvement suggestions, one area you could consider is expanding on the emotions you feel upon seeing the lady in white. You could further delve into your acceptance of their loss and express how it has changed you and shaped your journey towards healing. Additionally, adding a personal touch by including specific memories or experiences with your mother and brother could further enhance the connection between the reader and the poem.

Overall, your poem 'The Lady in White' has a haunting and touching quality that really resonates. Keep exploring your emotions and experiences in your writing, and don't be afraid to take your readers on an even deeper emotional journey. Great job!
