Across The Miles

Across the miles, a love takes flight
Two souls entwined, bathed in starlight
Africa's sun on bronzed skin gleams
Distant dreams dance in American beams

From Joburg's heart to Detroit's sprawl
Messages fly defying the squall
Words whispered soft on screen's delight
Build a bridge in the dead of night

Mouths melt like snow, a yearning grows
To touch, to hold, where the wild wind blows
Visa woes fade, a plane ticket gleams
Love's promise true, in a land of dreams

First sight. A gasp, then tears
Years of longing quelled by cheers
Hands clasped tight, skies so blue
Vows get spoken, hearts ring true

Wedding bells blend with city's sigh
Forever bound beneath one sky
Two souls merged, a tapestry spun
M and T, forever one

Let this poem a testament be
To love's fierce flame eternally
For distance fades where hearts entwine
The Lovers joined by love's design
