As The Flag Still Waves...

Here we are the one year anniversary of that horrible day,
When America was changed forever - in a very public way.
As we set and remember the lives that were lost,
And try to understand all of the pain and what it cost.
So many were so brave as all of us could only watch,
As the planes hit one by one-causing in the towers-another flaming notch.
The smoke was so thick with the flames being that hot,
We suddenly all became thankful for all that we've got.
As the Twin Towers stood burning - New York was in shock,
The tears were flowing and falling with the glass, steel, & rock.
A state of shock and swept across the world and to all,
As we watched the Twin Towers burn and then had to watch them fall.
But the terror was not over-another plane was in flight,
As it crashed into the Pentagon-we could feel the lose &fright.
The panic was massive - and the anger & fear were large,
It could've been so much worse - but there were hero’s in charge.
A fourth hi-jacked plane was falling out of the sky,
Taken back by 40 brave passengers who never needed to ask why.
As we all watched in fear - our hearts were just shattered,
Watching all of this unfold live on TV - to us - was all that mattered.
No one was concerned about work or all the bills they owed,
We were all glued to our TV's and watching what it showed.
We'd never had an attack like this ever before on American soil,
So as the tragedy of the day unfolded - all of our blood begin to boil.
We as a nation were angry, devastated, and in disbelief,
The pain was so intense no one knew how to handle all of the grief.
The whole world came together as one United Nation,
We were glued to the skies & watching our favorite TV station.
Our hearts couldn't believe what our eyes were seeing,
How could anyone do this horrible deed - certainly not a human being.
How can you take all of those lives and have no guilt,
To destroy human life and all the buildings that were built.
They say Osama Bin Laden is the person who is behind it all,
Yet he is still out there somewhere alive - and causing the killing of them all.
Who's to say that he's not planning to do it all over again,
For the God they worship and pray to - doesn't believe in sin.
He's still out there hiding - no one really knows just where,
Why can't our government find him - don't they even care.
All the money that has been spent has really cost us,
Yet he cannot be found so for all who died - there is still no justice.
When will all the terrorists be stopped - no one really knows,
We will be on their trails no matter where they ever really go.
Here on this one year Anniversary - America is a different place,
Flying anywhere has changed and is at a much slower pace.
We will never forget all of those whose lives were lost,
Look at what the terrorists have done - and for America - what it has cost.
As we look at our world today it's a different place to be,
We are standing strong & united for all the world to see.
Our freedom is not lost - we will never again be slaves,
Look around you America...Yes...Our flag still waves!

In memory of the people who lost their lives on that September day.
