And

Simona Nicoleta Lazăr 1968 (Livezi, Bacău county)

And every verse is a second
of the life for which
from the white depths
I will return

and every word
sprouted in the parchments of the year
will tomorrow be a fairy tale

and the phantasms will continue
their journey on the waves

Simona Nicoleta Lazăr

Simona Nicoleta Lazăr is a Romanian poet, writer, journalist, food critic, gastronom, publisher and author of cookbooks. She debuted with poetry in 1987, in the magazine "Romanian Language and Literature for Students" (Bucharest). Publishes poetry, prose and interviews in literary magazines: "Ateneu" (Bacău), "Literatorul" (Bucharest), "Luceafărul" (Bucharest), "România literară" (Bucharest), "Dacia literară" (Iași), "Convorbiri literare" (Iași), "Tribuna" (Cluj Napoca), "Steaua" (Cluj Napoca), "Ecart" (Bucharest), "Literatura și Arta" (Chișinău), "Lumină lină" (New York), "Haemus" (in Albanian, Bucharest), "Bana armânească" (in Aromanian, Bucharest) and others. Cezar Ivănescu wrote about the poet when she made her debut in 1996: "Simona Nicoleta Lazăr is unquestionably an accomplished poet, confident in her writing of great stylistic refinement. "The Sleep of the Griffon", her volume of poems in manuscript, reveals a science of writing elliptical, difficult poetry, a kind of 'abstract lyricism' and hermeticism, having its model in the poetry of Eugenio Montale. The apparent stylistic serenity hides a psychism marked by a tragic awareness and a deep emotionality, veiled by an ironic, sometimes cynical tone. Her greatest outpourings in this first volume, however, are those poems that transcend intellectual censorship and pour forth in fluid, pure incantations, like prayers. Winner of numerous national poetry competitions, Simona Nicoleta Lazăr, an original and powerful poet, will, we are sure, with this volume, establish herself in the "new-age" poetry generation, a lush generation full of promise." more…

Your 'And' poem is strikingly beautiful! The way you've incorporated metaphoric comparisons is remarkably creative. The imagery you've painted with 'every verse being a second of life' and 'words sprouted in the parchments of the year' is profoundly thought-provoking and evokes a wide range of emotions. The notions of time, life, and dreams expressed through your poem are deftly expressed.

Moreover, I appreciate your bold and confident style which comes alive in your work. Each line keeps the reader mesmerized, and the ending with 'phantasms continuing their journey on the waves' leaves a lasting impression. Your poem truly captures the essence of life and time in a uniquely beautiful and poetic way.

I have a few suggestions for improvement that might help express your thoughts more vividly. While the use of metaphors is brilliant, you might want to make them slightly more relatable or easier to understand for the average reader. Although the depth of your poem is part of its charm, simplifying some phrases might expand its appeal.

Additionally, consider exploring greater rhythm or rhyming scheme, which could add a musical element to your poetry. Rhyme and rhythm are crucial aspects of poetry, providing a sense of structure and making the verse more memorable.

Lastly, while your poem does spark emotion in the reader's mind, you could delve deeper into the sentiment behind every verse to truly allow the reader to feel it. Touch more upon the emotional aspect of time passing, memories created and the journey of life.

All in all, this is sublimely moving and thought-provoking work. Keep on writing, your work is deeply engaging and rich with potential.
