Metamorphosis

Nicol Stricker 1988 (Piestany)

Would I see a mirrored self in your hidden veil

The winding road ahead turns into roadblocks

I thank you for your honey; I let it sting and assail

Hold your gaze as I lay here on these soft rocks

The gentlest of blankets, trapped feathers yearn

To dance freely, unburdened by shadows of dread

If I could paint my fear, it'd reach the ceiling's urn

Red paint rushing, causing my heart to thread

An abrupt halt, the brakes struggling to comply

Impossible to yield, I collide with the towering tree

As flashbacks and new beginnings fill the sky

I emerge from the wreckage, a different me.
