A POND For David Rittner
He walked to a deadly pond,
Sat upon a morbid rock to witness the hidden product of Mankind,
On Its surface laid crimes onto nature’s core,
Under it deteriating fish starve and smother in the moldy solution,
A tear trickled from his eye,
As a sick bird plucked atavistic, dead, unformed, maggots,
And the rotted weeds and plants strangled the pond’s structure with pollution,
Devoluted to a corroded pit,
He quietly though it just,
He drove the soil,
Smooth and firm,
As the filthy herbs in the water,
Devoured him, the last, in its loathsome slime.
