Whispers in the Gale : Sheltered Serenity

"My love, in you I found my match,
Two storms colliding, lost souls to catch,
Our hearts were adrift on troubled seas,
Seeking safe harbor, some inner peace.

You calmed my restless waves, stilled the rain,
Brought light where once darkness held reign,
Your smile my sunshine, your laugh the breeze,
That soothed my battered heart with ease.

In your arms I learned what it meant to be whole,
My fractured pieces fused into one beautiful soul,
The chaos within found balance at last,
My past pains and sorrow fading into the past.

With you I built a shelter strong against life's raging tide,
Weathered the storms that came, you forever by my side,
Through tears and laughter our bond grew over time,
Until our hearts beat as one, our fates intertwined.

You were the eye in my hurricane, my compass when lost,
The one fixed point when all other stars were crossed,
My anchor in unsettled seas, my guide back home,
The only place I found peace amidst the foam.

For too long I rode waves of disquiet and strife,
You brought stillness, purpose and meaning to my life,
Your love the balm that healed wounds I thought too deep,
In your arms I found the solace I could never keep.

How can I explain what you came to mean?
My heart's north star, my everything,
The arms I run to, the smile I adore,
My safe refuge on life's uncertain shore.

You saw through the storms to the real me within,
Saw past my bluster, my bravado worn thin,
Loved me not just for who I was trying to be,
But for everything you knew I could come to be.

With patience and care you weathered my storms,
My moments of doubt, my moods ever-changing,
Standing steadfast no matter how hard the rain,
Waiting until my true self shone clear again.

I was chaos untamed, lost in a maelstrom at sea,
You were the lighthouse calling me back to safety,
Promising warmth, compassion and days calm and bright,
If only I'd brave the storms and come into your light.

And so I turned my ship towards your loving beam,
 Left the violent waters where I'd let myself careen,
Made my way slowly through wind and driving sleet,
Until I found my new home, your arms open to greet.

You saw through the facade I showed the world each day,
Saw past my armor donned to keep pain at bay,
Looked into my eyes and found the real me staring back,
Scared and scarred but wanting to walk a different track.

With care you drew me out, undid my tangles of old,
Never flinching when my stories of pain and hurt were told,
Just wrapped me in understanding beyond anything I knew,
And made me feel I could start my life anew.

I was chaos, storming unchecked across the years,
Leaving naught but sorrow and heartbreak in my wake,
Never pausing to heal wounds of others or myself,
Thinking love was a dream too fragile for life's storms to take.

But your light pierced the darkness, your voice stilled the wind,
Your arms a refuge, your heart the solace I'd sought to find,
You saw the good in me when I felt only bitterness and pain,
And taught me to love myself and others once again.

You were ocean and shore, sunrise and sunset glory,  
The beginning of my new life, the end to my old story,
No words can fully capture what you came to mean,
But know you brought this chaos peace, made my heart serene."
