Butterflies

Free verse
A brief glance
A meeting by chance
Feelings forming fast
Making me forget the past

Feelings of joy,
Have me playing coy
Fleeting little butterflies
Have me seeing bluer skies

I look into your eyes,
And to my surprise
I no longer fear butterflies

About this poem

I fear both butterflies and falling in love, and this poem delicately illustrates the rapid but transformative impact a chance meeting can have, evoking a newfound sense of joy, hope, and courage that help in letting go of past fears and embracing the beauty of the present moment.
