Bird in a cage.
Zkhathi 2004 (Durban)
A heartbeat that can never be heard,
Big personality that's underneath what
Is only liked on the outside.
Nobody knows how far you can fly,
Nor do they know your real cry,
You lest them from your late night cries
They only know your early sounds.
None know the strength of your wings,
Nor do they know your real smile,
Do you even know how far you can walk
Or you only dream of how fast you can run?
Your beautiful furthers know only know compliments,
But not real life accomplishments
Do you sing from the heart
Or only sing from the thought of what they like?
Is the cage only beautiful to them?
I wonder if they like to be caged as you are.
Do you even see yourself as they do?
Or it's only them who think you lead an easy life.
Little caged bird your power is not in their eyes, your power is in why they caged you.
You are bird in a cage
A bird with a different age
Your knowledge is far deeper than they think.
Bird in a cage when you get a chance fly
And look back no more.
