I Must No Longer be Me

Life isn’t what it used to be,
It hasn’t been very good to me.
I wander through this world looking for purpose, hiding my pain just below the surface.
Wearing this mask of happiness, while inside I feel pain and emptiness.
Walking down this long and lonely road in the pouring rain, I feel lost, alone and in terrible pain.
The pain is unbearable, it’s more than I can stand, slowly it’s consuming me like quicksand.
I’m helpless, I’m trapped and I have no doubt, that there is only one way out.
There is only one way I can truly be free, I must no longer be me….
