Yesterdays and Tomorrows
When you look through the windows of yesterday,
What is it that you see?
Is it an image of yourself today…
Just turned around…and free?
When you think of the number of times you’ve gone around the sun,
What does that bring to mind?
Would’a, Could’a, Should’a’s, or maybe….
‘My life has just begun’!
Time moves forward, and never, ever in reverse.
So it’s not about changing yesterday…
It is for tomorrow
That we must rehearse.
Getting things right can’t start with yesterday.
That’s already come and WENT!
Right here, right now…
that’s where you can make a dent.
Oh, but when I prospect on tomorrow,
I see things in an all new light.
Good things abounding…
My fantasy taking flight!
For instance, I know (yes I KNOW)
that I’ll never be late again!
How can you be LATE
To a place you have already been?
I’ll no longer listen to nonsensical things,
It won’t be my concern.
Because I was always told things like…
‘take time’, ‘make time’ and ‘you’ve got time to burn’!
Peering into tomorrow,
It’s all smiles and joy.
And if anyone asks how old you are…
Just smile and say, ‘Who’s keeping score?’
