New Beginnings

Oscar Auliq-Ice 1994 (Port Elizabeth)

Once you spoke of distant shores, a world away from mine,
You painted tales of freedom, with every single line.
I listened, hoped, and held my breath, for tales of brighter days,
But in your eyes, a different path, a love that couldn't stay.

Now you, dream of open skies,
Now you, look for stars so bright,
Now you, whisper to the breeze,
It's a mystery,
How you see the world,
It's all so clear,
In your universe.

'Cause every dawn leads to night,
And every star finds its light,
Now who's dancing, with shadows in the moon's embrace?
Every dawn leads to night,
And every dream takes its flight,
Now who's chasing, the winds of fate's gentle trace?

I think back to times,
When stories were told,
You'd paint the horizon,
With colors so bold.

The tales spun in circles, the world in your palm,
Yet here in the silence, there was a calm.
I offered my dreams, my hopes, and my view,
But your heart was a compass, to directions so new.

Now you, sail to lands unseen,
Now you, chase what could've been,
Now you, are a mystery,
A cosmic dance,
With every chance,
In a trance,
Of life's expanse.

'Cause every dawn leads to night,
And every star finds its light,
Now who's dancing, with shadows in the moon's embrace?
Every dawn leads to night,
And every dream takes its flight,
Now who's chasing, the winds of fate's gentle trace?

Remember the nights,
With tales untold,
I'd wait for the moments,
Your stories would unfold.

Dream after dream,
You'd float away,
Beyond the horizon,
Seeking the light of day.
Challenges were many, adventures anew,
But the biggest was finding, the essence of you.

'Cause every dawn leads to night,
And every star finds its light,
Leave behind shadows, embrace the world anew,
Every dawn leads to night,
Embrace the universe's sight,
Let your heart decide, what's true for you.

It's a journey, my dear,
Life's ebbs and flows,
Every ending,
Is a beginning that grows.
