Boxes of Her

Free verse
I find as I pack
up the boxes of her
the hairbrush
the jacket
they seem to preserve

A past incarnation
A flicker, a verve
so lamely reduced
to just boxes of her

The red and white scarf
The beautiful note
That no one of any
Significance wrote

The perfume
The T-shirt
The photos
The pen

The closest I’m given
To live it again

About this poem

I wrote this after packing up to go to uni, feeling very nostalgic about all the previous versions of myself/eras in my life that I was reminded of when rooting through my old things
